Initial Consultation

The initial consultation is the first step to building a relationship at Sprout Psychology Centre.

We pride ourselves on making your family feel part of our family.

The aim of this first meeting is to make you feel comfortable by discussing your concerns, and answering your questions.

We will firstly seek your written consent for service and outline our responsibilities. We then ask you a little bit about what brought you to us including medical and developmental history, family history, schooling, sleep and diet, extra curricular activities, history of past assessments, other health professionals involvement, past and current social, behavioural and emotional functioning.

What to bring (as a guide):

  • Blue book
  • Most recent school reports
  • Past assessment or intervention reports
  • Samples of their work e.g handwriting, spelling, drawing

At the end of the session, the Psychologist will outline in brief the next steps from here. At times an intervention plan can be clear from the start, it may take several sessions to develop or it may change along the way.
